Pineview offers a unique blend of sport fish, including trophy-sized tiger muskie. Tigers are a hybrid blending muskie with northern pike. They grow large, attack lures aggressively and fight like - well, like tigers. The Utah state record tiger muskie, a 49-inch fish that weighed 33 lbs, 9 oz, was caught in Pineview.
Pineview also offers good numbers of smallmouth bass, crappie, perch and bullhead catfish, along with a few trout.
Because the reservoir is located in a small valley, ringed by mountains, wind is minimal and so the water is usually calm, often glassy - ideal for water skiing and wakeboarding. The reservoir has nice sandy beaches and paved launch ramps.
Modern campgrounds can be found at the reservoir and along the South Fork of the Ogden River (along Scenic Byway Hwy 39).
The Ogden River, below the reservoir, and the South Fork, above the reservoir, provide very good trout fishing. The South Fork is a popular fly fishing stream.
